As a combat Veteran, I have lost friends and family to the wars fought to protect the freedoms and liberties EVERY American is guaranteed in the Constitution. America was founded on the fundamental principles no other country can claim to offer but granted to EVERY American, whether born here or by becoming a citizen.
For any American who wants to share their life with, have a civil union with, or wants to marry someone of the same sex…it’s your right to choose to do so. I’ve fought to protect the freedoms’ of EVERY American and as long as God’s willing, I will continue to. We need to understand this issue isn’t about my personal opinion, nor is it about yours. Rather, it’s about the protected freedoms of the Constitution…“of the People, by the People, and for the People”.
There’s a reason for such foretelling quotes as, “Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it.” – George Santayana
The intent of our Constitution is fair to EVERY American, regardless of: faith, color, education, social status, party affiliation, or whom someone chooses to share their life with, whether a man or woman.
The 14th Amendment is simple…
“No state shall make or enforce any law which shall abridge the privileges or immunities of citizens of the United States; nor shall any state deprive any person of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws.”
What’s so hard to understand about it? Leave our Constitution alone and let’s focus on issues affecting every American; such as jobs, the economy, national security, and infrastructure – because “America Matters”.
